Format

Kids will play singles and doubles matches in a round robin. Match will be first person to get 7 or 10 points, depending on the ball color.

Benchmark Tennis uses the concept of points won divided by points played to help evaluate the level of play for each player. For example, if Player A wins a match 10 points to 5, they won 10 out of 15 points, or 2/3 of the points. Player B won 1/3 of the points. Over the course of several matches, the player’s average percentage of points won is calculated, and we call that the Benchmark %.

Here are our guidelines:

• If the Benchmark % is 60% or higher, the player is well developed in their current ball color and may be ready for more challenging aspects of the game, such as using spin and specialty shots
• Players above 75% who are age-appropriate may be ready for the next ball color.
• If the Benchmark % is 45-60%, the player is well positioned in current ball color match play and should continue their development and get more match experience.
• If the Benchmark % is below 45%, the player needs to continue developing their ability to serve and rally with control, and should get more match experience.

REGISTRATION GUIDELINES

To sign up for an event, please email or contact your tennis professional or fill out the registration form. All Match Play registration must be finalized 2-3 days prior to the start of the event. Late adds will be accepted with approval of the host pro.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the event in order to check in and get court assignments. If you cannot make it to the event, please contact the host pro as soon as possible. Refunds will be issued only to those who notify the host pro 36 hours prior to the event and only if there are still enough juniors to not have to cancel the event.

We must have a Registration Form for each individual Match Play event that includes payment information.

Payment is $30.00 per player for all Benchmark events.
